Ricci Simmons
Conservation Stewardship Manager
Ricci joined the Galveston Bay Foundation in June 2019, bringing experience from her work in Colorado with the Bureau of Land Management as a Rangeland Management Specialist. In 2017, she returned to her native Galveston County to work with The Nature Conservancy as a Conservation Technician. She holds a B.S. in Wildlife Fisheries Sciences and Rangeland Ecology Management from Texas A&M University, as well as an M.S. in Hydrology from Boise State University. At GBF, Ricci specializes in restoring coastal tallgrass prairies, freshwater wetlands, and mixed hardwood forest ecosystems. She is dedicated to promoting species diversity, improving hydrologic function, and enhancing wildlife habitat using native plants sourced from GBF conservation properties and grown at GBF nurseries. Her work also incorporates controlled burns and prescribed grazing to revitalize natural landscapes. Outside of work, Ricci enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and especially loves gardening.
